I love seeing Ava wear the same dresses that my sisters and I wore when we were little. I really wanted to get some pictures of her wearing this one, so I bribed her with treats to get her to come outside with me in the hot, humid weather. She hardly lasted. But I will admit that she was a good sport for the ridiculous amount of mosquitos flying around our porch.

Our Little Ham
Ava got a special gift from a friend who was no longer using her play kitchen, and Ava has made sure to get plenty of use out of it. She takes our orders, calls her friends on the phone, and makes us all kinds of dishes like soup and macaroni and cheese. We are grateful for new toys and generous people.
Date nights
Most of the time our date nights consist of RedBox and ice cream on our family room couch after Ava goes to bed. It’s the easiest (and cheapest) way to get some time to ourselves and relax. We love it. But then of course, we also like to get out, so we’ll go to places like La Centerra or City Center (outdoor malls with restaurants, live music, and a big green area for kids to run around.) That way we can bring Ava (again, the cheapest and easiest way.) The other day, we tried out Top Golf, and she actually did quite well as our “third wheel.” It was more like a family outing than a date night, but we still all had fun. But restaurants, that’s when it gets hard bringing her along. Crayons and paper menus only keep her attention for a few minutes before she is climbing all over us, jumping up and down, sitting under the table, and dumping salt from the salt shakers into her hand and licking it. That’s when a one on one date night is worth it for the two of us. But for now, nights like this are still fun.
Happy News!
Like a River
Look what we woke up to this morning!
Sometimes when it rains, it rains a lot. And this happens.
Fortunately our house is always just fine, and we all get to stay inside together for a little bit. The water subsided within a few hours and Jake was able to go to work. But for a little while we had a legitimate reason to keep him home with us!
